Music and Dance

All lessons have strong sensory, physical and communication elements. Every lesson has the following aspects –

 

 

A Hello Song – students are greeted at the appropriate moment In the song 
  (listening, watching, waiting and interacting)

 

 

 

 

 

Signing and Actions – using Makaton signs with directed actions
 ( communication)

 

 

 

 

 

Singing – students are taught to develop their singing using their voices or electronic switches

(confidence, performance and vocal training)                                                                                
 

      
                                                

 

Dance – Club dances and set dances.
(balance and awareness of body in space)

 

 

                                                                        

 

Activities – Focused and progressive (based on musical elements of the music curriculum) to encourage encountering, experiencing, audience awareness, skills and talents, enjoyment and appreciation.


     (performance, interaction, improvisation, composition and expression)
                                             

There are also some whole school annual events -  Dance Competition, Talent Shows, School Play and Carol Service  .
